Mama's Blessed : Why I Return To Your Blog

Why I Return To Your Blog

Here are a few reasons why I return to my favorite blogs.

why i return to your blog

  1. You don't always post a hundred pics of yourself/life/trip. I love looking at pictures of your trip, pet, life, whatever. I do not like having to scroll for an hour. We get it, your amazing. Post a few.
  2. No pop up adds all over. This seriously makes me want to punch my computer screen. Glad your making money but try not to give me a heart attack.
  3.  You don't write a 10 paragraphs per post. I love reading. Books are awesome. But when it comes to blogs, the shorter the better. To be honest, if I stumble across a post that is pretty much 5 pages long if written on paper.. I immediately get bored & do not attempt to read it.
  4. No negative content. No trash talking. There is enough negative in this world. You are not better than me. Enough said.
  5. You give me ideas & inspiration. I am not creative, sadly. I look for inspiration and ideas everywhere.
  6. Your blog design is pretty & simple. If it is a hot mess I usually go on about my business.
  7. Your entertaining. I always love a good laugh.

After coming up with this list I realized I need to take these to heart when it comes to my own blog.

What are some reasons you keep returning to your favorite blogs?

  2. I usually return to blogs because they have great ideas or because they are real people. I like to be able to relate to people and connect with people who are at a similar stage in life as I am. I agree that I am drawn toward pretty and easy to navigate blog designs and I look for people that have a positive outlook. Even if they are posting about something negative, to spin it in a positive or humorous way instead of the woe is me outlook.

  3. Yes I agree.. I do tend to read more blogs that are mommy/wife lifestyle blogs. Or at least like things that I like. I love fashion/beauty blogs but I do not keep up with those as often.

  4. I completely agree with your list. I also like when there aren't too many sponsored posts and when the author is really honest in some of their posts.

I like it when people are real on their blogs. I usually stop reading when it is all sunshine/rainbows/unicorns every second of every day.

I return to blogs if they are interesting and respond back. And are who they say we are.

  15. These are fun! I totally agree with the negative/mean one! I skip blogs like that because they are not encouraging and uplifting.

  16. I return to blogs because they are full of creative content, inspirational (short) stories, are uplifting and empowering.

  17. Short is best. I have a short attention span, so if it is a long post I usually get distracted & move on to something else. Horrible maybe!?

  20. #3 Gosh I kinda thought I was the only one who just couldn't do the long post thing. It's just with such a limited amount of time to read blogs...I think it's important to keep things shorter and to the point. :)

  22. Wow. Pretty sure you hit all the nails on the head here. I know they say not to judge a book by its cover, but I definitely judge a blog by its design and aesthetic appeal. I don't want to have to think to hard to navigate your site. I also don't like to scroll a lot...which means not too many pictures. I think the blogs I return to the most are the ones that have clear categories and I can find what I'm looking for. This actually made me realize that I was missing something on my own blog! I'm in the process of switching to self-hosted so that I can categorize my posts. You know the saying "treat others as you would like to be treated"...I figure I better treat my readers the way I like to read a blog :)

  23. Yes same for me! After typing this post I was like WOW I have a lot of work to do on my own blog! I lose my attention on something very easy. So short & sweet with a few cute pictures is best!

  24. This is a great list and I think #5 really is my favorite. If it provides inspiration - whether it's for dinner, a DIY or down-in-the-dumps pick-me-up (holy, hyphens!), it really adds value to a reader. Adding value is priceless.
